Bees are amazing at pollinating, especially wild bees as we could read in our other post. But despite being awesomely efficient at the task, they aren’t the only type of pollinator that exists.
Pollination happens on different scales of efficiency depending on each animal’s diet. Thus, some animals might have a stronger impact than others regarding this task. The closest and more dependable the animal’s relationship is with flowers, the bigger the chances to be carrying more pollen over time.
Following I have assembled a list of 14 different species that also pollinate but aren’t bees. It’s interesting to know that not only insects are pollinators, but also birds, mammals and some reptiles too!
Other insects:
Hoverflies
Beetles
Butterflies
Wasps
Slugs
Mosquitoes
Ants
Non insect pollinators:
Lemurs & Monkeys
Sunbirds
Hummingbirds
Possums
Phelsumas
Southern long-nosed bats
