This past 1st, 2nd & 3rd of December we were at SAGA presenting our Alpha version of BeeTheBest and damn what an experience! We had been there as visitors the previous year but not as participants, and it must be said that the management of the event was very positive. We were able to have plenty of booth room which, placed on a corner, allowed us to enjoy a lot of great neighbours, mostly indie developers like us.
We shared walls on one side with Conxi and Ferran from Rolldbox Games who have created Those Who Came: Healing Solarus a video game that proposes a cooperative sci-fi experience about the restoration, healing and regeneration of a seemingly hostile planet and which also has a real ecological impact through a collaboration with dots.eco.
And on the other side, with Pep and Oriol coming from Vic and representing the Association: Juga i Viu on Vius, creators of the game/app: La Font d’Ausa, and passionate like us about the creation of educational games, of discovery and knowledge with a community vision.
We also shared street with Guille, Eli, Andrea and Iru from Nebuloid Team and creators of Sol, a narrative-style videogame that explores the lives of a grup of catalan friends in Barcelona who have to live in a world where the sun is permanently hidden. A videogame with a young and actual language, developed only in Catalan to promote the learning of the language. It is quite metaphorical and fun and will make you think with a smile.
Next to them we met LluÃs, who let us try the new version of the splendid Curse of the Sea Rats, a pi-rat adventure with top-notch 2D hand-made animations from Petoons Studio.
And finally a mention of those who were in front of by the other street and with whom we were able to enjoy good times commenting on the current state of the industry:
Roger and Sergi from 3D Nassos, referents of the Catalan videogame press who are immersed in the production and printing of the 2nd issue of their magazine, and Marc and Laia from Lúdica from whom we bought an edition of “The guide to video games for families and educators”.
We met many more amazing people during the event and it was great!
We were also very pleased to discover a QR on a poster on a column in the lounge that when scanned, took you to a competition app to win an XBOX, where you could learn about the community, partnerships, studios and companies in the ecosystem while answering questions through a gamified format and a statistics system.
This and the metaphor of the portals for each part of the sector, transferred to some unique artistic canvases that we could not resist acquiring, made of this a great 2nd edition of SAGA.
