Espai Obert, which in catalan means: “Open Space”, is a short mentoring program that gathers different experts in subjects as broad as: Digital tools, Economy, Marketing or Production and selects a series of projects that might benefit from the exchange of knowledge both between each other and the experts in the subjects. The event combines an in-person gathering with a follow-up digital meeting. This allows for meeting up face to face, share one’s project, and get to exchange ideas with other people that might not be from the same industry as oneself, but might find themselves in a similar stage of development.

The event was celebrated in #plantauno (Av. Fabregada 22, planta 1a. L´Hospitalet), and they even included a 2 hour lunch break with an incredible delicious buffet. The experience was very pleasant and allowed for reflecting about different subjects.
We were mostly interested into defining a marketing plan and tackling the funding of our project. While we didn’t get any definitive answers, because at the end of the day, one needs to find them themself, lots of ideas came up and useful suggestions as well. It was nice to sympathize with the goals of other people and see that we are not alone in this process of figuring out the way. The staff was very supportive as well and learning from their personal experience and advice is going to be very useful. The other participants were kind and open to brainstorm with us and we even managed to playtest the videogame with some of them!
Afterwards, in the same space, the Digital Ideas Catalonia conference was taking place and we stayed for as long as we could. We learned about very interesting points revolving the use of digital technologies in society’s fabric and how they could impact our future as well.
Oh and we also got a very special book for free!
All in all a day well spent, and an experience to remember fondly.
